Batman Movie Idea

I have this great idea for a Batman movie. Okay so we all love Batman movies? Christopher Nolan is a great director and a maverick for rebooting the Batman franchise. Thanks, Chris! Anyway, a while ago, I heard that Dark Knight Rises is going to be Nolan's last Batman movie. Makes sense because he wants to move and do some other stuff. Fine by me. Perhaps he'll reboot it again like Michael Bay is doing with Transformers 4. Wait! Michael, your rebooting a franchise that you already rebooted? That's not rebooting! That's taking a trilogy and turning it into a movie franchise! Don't be full of yourself!

Wow, I'm getting off track! Anyway, let's get back to my Batman movie idea. Okay, so one day I came across a few CNN videos on YouTube. One of those videos was about cult leaders and how they mess with people's minds. How that they say that they're the superior ones and stuff. I find it fascinating that people believe what these false prophets say and become brainwashed by their words. Their "followers" get so fixated on their words that they loose their sense of reality and do whatever they are told do and feel. Now I bet your wondering yourself this: What does all of this stuff have to do about Batman? Well, here's where I'm getting at.

Like all Batman movies, it takes place in Gotham City. If you make a Batman movie, it has to take place in Gotham City. It's tradition and you don't mess with tradition. So, Gotham is slowly rebuilding itself after what happened between Batman and Bane (Spoiler alert, Bane is the villain in Nolan's new Batman movie). Batman is starting to get his life back together and everything. Fighting crime and upholding the truth and justice. Things are looking pretty good for him. Now we all remember what happened at the end of The Dark Knight, right? Batman leaves for a bit and Joker get's arrested and goes to Arkham. Big bang boom the end. We don't really know what Joker was doing in between moments when Batman was figuring out the Joker's move. Here's where it kicks in. I imagined that Joker was training a secret apprentice. Someone to continue his bidding just in case he either died or was sent to jail. So we see what that was like. That is going back to what I said about big figures brainwashing young individuals and making them step outside their comfort zones and do what they are told to do. So, Joker's apprentice is this young girl who saw Joker as a hero and a liberator. Finally bringing chaos into the system. Joker messes her mind and tells her that chaos, rebelling, and anarchy are is the way you handle society. That committing big acts of violence and murder is how you get control of the masses and that Batman is the real bad guy. This girl believes every word is told to her and studies the Joker's every move. Now I bet your all wondering, what is the name of this girl. Okay, you might hate me on this because she wasn't really in the comic books. She is a character in the Batman universe, but she was introduced in the animated series. Harleen Quinzel aka Harley Quinn.  Yes I'm quite aware that actor who played Joker is dead. The actor is dead yes, but the character is still alive.

So, now that Joker is in Arkham, someone needs to continue spreading the fear to the masses. Harley Quinn is our movie's main bad guy so that will be very interesting to see. Harley Quinn is now brainwashed by Joker and shows no signs of being turned back to her normal self. She continues doing killings, bombings, etc. All of the stuff that Joker wasn't able to really get done. Batman hears about these acts of crime and murder and prepares to stop Harley Quinn and snap her out of Joker's mind games. Harley also starts using the Joker's words to convince other civilians that Batman is a murderer and that Joker was innocent. A few people start to see Harley's words as truth and start to join her little rebellion clan. So that's pretty much my idea for a Batman movie. Batman must stop Harley Quinn's rebirth of anarchy and help bring her back to normal. Oh, and stop the destruction of Gotham. We can't forget that.

Feeling Like a Hundred Bucks & Judd Apatow

So recently I went through the roughest writer's block and one of the most emotional moments of my life. Like if I made a top ten list of my saddest moments, my writer's block would be number 2. Why number 2 (haha, I get it. Number 2. Hilarious) because number 1 was when I found out that Tony Iommi was diagnosed with lymphoma. Anyway, I went through a real tough time. Luckily, I had some help from my good friend Judd Apatow. A while ago I sent him at tweet about writer's block and how to get rid of it. I had a pretty good feeling I wasn't going to hear anything back from him. I mean, come on he's Judd Apatow. He's the Spielberg of comedy movies (from a producer's stand point). So I was shocked that the next day when I checked my Twitter account that I got a response back from him! When I heard back from him, I was happier than a fat kid getting a big ass sundae! His advice to me was: "Don't judge. Just ramble and ramble. See what comes out. Judge it tomorrow". I really want to get that tweet framed so whenever I go through this again, I can just look up to that quote and know that I can get through anything. Thank you, Judd Apatow. Thank you for inspiring me to make the best out of myself. Now that being said, I must go. Knocked Up is on.

Channing Tatum on SNL

So did anyone watch last night's episode of SNL? The host was Channing Tatum. You know, that hot guy who was in Step Up. That guy who looks kinda brain-dead but has abs that can make butter melt. Okay, I'm getting ahead of myself here so I'll just get to the point. The show was actually pretty good. Better than I expected actually. No, there weren't any Step Up skits (major disappointment). But I did keep track how many times Tatum was topless during the show. I'm not gay but I just wanted to keep track. Don't judge me you would do the same! He was only topless twice. Once during his monologue (audience was full of girls [tweens and mid twenties who are clearly dumbfounded] and some guys). And second was during the next skit where he spoofed Matthew McConaughey (which was a pretty spot on impression. Overall, the show was really cool and the dude can act. And by act I mean decent community theater acting. Can't wait for next week when Zooey aka "Jess" is hosting. Gonna be a great show!

Silent Film Ideas & Tigers Because Those Are Really Cool

I haven't done a blog in a while now so I think I owe you guys on. Just a warning to anyone who reads this, there won't be any tigers in this blog. None. Sorry. And as I continue to type this, I know I'll be losing visitors by second. So just to make things more enjoyable, here's a picture of a tiger. Yup, that's a tiger. That's for you. Enjoy!

https://twitter.com/#!/MattJVids

So, I had a somewhat traumatic and dramatic moment last night. Yup, that's right a TD. I panicked because I realized that I've been in film school for over a year and I haven't made a single short film. I suck and I hate myself for not making anything. Every time I write a screenplay for a short film, I give my heart and soul into getting it made. But in the end, it never gets made. I give my hopes up and in the end, it never gets made and I have egg on my face. I think it's because I'm young or something or maybe my film school chums don't really like me. IDK. I tried to write something, but I just couldn't finish it because I knew it would never get made. *sigh*. Who knows. But I haven't given up hope. Nope, got one single krill of hope left in my body. I decided to make a silent film. However, I need some help. I need some ideas. So if you want to help me out, I would really appreciate it. Send me your ideas here on or tweet them to me @MattJVids . I could really use the help.

The Bloggiest Blog of Blogs: Part 2

Let me first just say, I love it when I get a YouTube comment in my inbox and when I look at the person who said the comment has no videos of their own. Be a real person and show that have something and not some asshole who just has an account just to dick around! lol. Anyway, I'm getting a little lost here and let's get back on track. Okay. Right! So, today on the subway ride home, I had a real "Tron" like experience. And when I mean by "Tron" like experience, I'm not referring to the new Disney version. I mean like 80s Tron with Bruce Boxleitner baby! That's what I'm talking about! So I'm sitting alone and being a lonerish 8th grader listening to Radiohead and Fall Out Boy, when all of a sudden, I hear possibly the greatest sound effect ever! The P.A. system on the train starts going ape shit! How cool is that do you ask? Well, it sounded like the sound effects that you would hear in a freaking old Atari game! Yeah, that intense! If there was a time to geek out, that was the perfect moment. The sad realistic side of that is that this most likely not happen again. That really sucks monkey balls! I wish that sound was the official door opening sound instead of the usual winey stupid jingle!

Academy Awards 2012 & New Blog Part 1

Okay, so I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one who saw the list for this year's Academy Awards. So heres where my story get's pretty entertaining. Not "ha ha nerdy kid's pants fall down in school funny". I'm kinda talking about "ha ha Jerry Seinfeld" funny. I welcomed the morning the way I usually do. I take a deep breath, and then a collection of little blue birds came through my window and helped me with my clothes and got my bowl of cereal. I almost forgot that the awards were announced that day. And when I took a sip of my cereal and saw that Melissa McCarthy is nominated for Best Supporting Actress, I basically dropped my bowl of cereal. I was that shocked and blown away. To be honest, the reason that she was nominated was because they want to pull in the teen demographic so that they can get more viewers. Her performance was good but I don't think it was Oscar worthy. She still makes me laugh though.

I haven't done a blog in a long time now and I kinda figured that I owe you all one. This is like part one of my Blog, the next one will be up sometime tomorrow. Peace be with you all!

I Think I Got An Actress(?)

Okay, so a while back, let's say a semester ago, I wrote a script that was supposed to be this folk/artsy short film called An Adventure with Abigail. It was great but after reading it third time, I came to a realization. I DON'T LIVE IN BRITISH COLUMBIA! CAPS LOCK MEANS ANGRY MODE!! Calmer now. I decided to change to season, location, and the feel of the script. It went from folksy to something that you would see with Seth Rogen and Julia Stiles. Whoa, think about it. Seth Rogen and Julia Stiles in a film together. Can you say, awesome?! Anyway, it went from artsy to something produced by Judd Apatow. It's cute and funny and a feel good romp. I already have an actress who's considering playing my main female role! I'm so excited! Now, I just need to make a big decision. Should I make this movie, or my other dark film Reflection?

Haywire? More like Shitwire!

So if you haven't guessed by the title, you can tell that I didn't like the movie Haywire and with good reason. This movie is by far the worst, awful, shitty, and-and- I can't even think of any other words that can possibly describe how bad this movie is. I rather have an iguana lick my balls while someone rubs my face with sandpaper. Even though that does sound painful, at least that visual sounds exciting! I wanted to leave to badly but I stayed because I wasn't sure if my dad and brother were enjoying the film. This film suffered it's predecessor, Contagion.  What's that mean? After the first 10 minutes it gets really boring and dull. There were so many quiet moments in the movie. Now there's a major difference between being quiet for dramatic effect and intensity. However, that wasn't the case. Almost all 45% of the movie has moments with only actors on screen and absolutely nothing else can be heard. It was so quiet that I could hear people coughing, a guy unwrapping an Reese Peanut Butter Cup, and the sound of the movie screening beside us beginning. I think it was either Beauty and the Beast or Dragon Tattoo. Hell, either way, hearing that beside us is what only kept me in the theatre. I haven't seen many movies since the start of 2012 but I can say now that this is the worst film I've seen this year. I would rather watch Garbage Pail Kids than watch this movie. No, it needs to be worse than that. I would rather watch Norbit, then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3, The Room, and any Care Bears movie than watch this again. Haywire is Soderbergh's worst film to date!

Congress Can't Be Serious

So, I'm pretty sure everyone is up to date with what's happening between the United States congress and the internet, right? The all mighty battle for free speech. How big is this you ask? Try a mix between the Rebel Alliance Vs. the Death Star mixed with Cloud vs. Spehiroth and a dash of every action explosion combined! It's utter bullshit because you can't own something that's as big as the internet. The reason for this is simply because they want to stop piracy. Now as good as that sounds, it's basically a "robot in disguise". While they try to stop piracy, the government will also be stopping new websites because they won't meet their "filtered requirements". That's like kinda look doing a Disney movie with Jon McClane as the main character. It's a disaster waiting to happen! Boom! Now also there is this online "black out" protest that's happening on certain sites. I'm not going to point fingers here (wikipedia) but so far they are doing more help than damage. Why does this remind so much of Terminator for some reason? Is Sean Connor going to come out of no where and stop congress from passing this bill? Will Arnold come in with this sunglasses and save the day? Will the protestors fight the congress's super weapon the T-1000!? Okay clearly I need to take a break from watching '80s sci-fi movies but you can see the similarities. Rebels agains a mega powerful evil organization.

So hopefully the bill doesn't get passed and we can all celebrate by watching Keyboard Cat and looking up cool but useless facts on Wikipedia.

Keep the internet safe and fun and stuff!

Staying In

Take a look at my latest short film. Did this one because I was bored and I had some time to myself.

Lana Del Ray Sucked on SNL

So did anyone catch last nights Saturday Night Live episode? Host was Daniel Radcliffe-you know, Harry Potter. He was pretty great and I was surprised how good he could pull off an American accent. However, after watching him play a pussy ass white boy for the umpteenth time can really take a toll on you. Be that as it may, watching him spoofing his own character, really help things perk things up a rather joyless night. Now hold on. Here's where the story get's rather deadly poison drinking and Megatron Michael Bay style of destruction. Now the musical guest was Lana Del Ray. As anyone heard of her? No? I'm not surprised that you are. She doesn't have a record deal yet. Now I bought her three latest singles and from what I heard, she sounds really great. Like a mix of Nancy Sinatra and a grizzly bear. Now here's where the story get's interesting. When I saw her perform her single "Video Games", my face dropped to the ground and not in the good way. More like when you walk in to your parents having sex kinda bad. I mean, there's a difference between sounding good and moody and sound like your not trying to sing. But that's for people who can sing like Eddie Vedder. Now that's a dude who can sing. Lana Del Ray sounded like she just didn't care to be on the SNL stage. And after listening to her live, it really makes me think if she can really sing at all. I immediately went back to my laptop and deleted her songs off my computer. So to sum it up, good host, good comedy, shitty musical guest.

Hellish Friday

So today at film school, my class started off very riveting, exciting, and powerhouse of energy. Pretty awesome. Hold on. The story takes a very sharp turn. Were leaving Fun Sunshine Vill and taking the first exit to Dullashell Village. By look on all of my peers faces that they are all bored out of their skulls. They're all thinking "when can I leave this class? I'll jump out the window next to me Whallberg style!". I don't blame them. I feel as if I'm watching paint dry. Who wants to be in a night class on a Friday? No one.

Oh, wait! Teacher just swore and mentioned Farmville in a class. Perhaps this will get better. Nope, one millisecond later I feel like having my balls zapped by an electric eel. How god the agony! I hope things get better from here on out. Perhaps he'll teach us all on how we can be big stars on YouTube. Now that's a class that I don't wanna miss.

Rainy Day & Weinberg

Last night I sent out a tweet at film critic/film blogger Scott Weinberg. I can't remember what I said but obviously I got a tweet back and boy, was he pissed. I couldn't tell if he was pissed in a haha fuck you jokingly manner or just flat out mad at me. Either way, I was proud and disappointed in myself. So, me being the big youngling baby that I am, I sent him two tweets back apologizing. That was the end of that night.

The next morning, I awoke to greyish sky and snow trying to pass itself off as rain. Dreadful. Two cups of coffee later, I checked my Twitter account just like I do every morning. What I saw probably was one of those moments where your eyes go all big eyed like in the cartoons. Scott Weinberg is now following me on Twitter. Awesome! That's the only word I can possibly describe my reaction. Actually no, this was my reaction when I saw that he was following me.

Whatta, Whatta, Whatta Wednesday!

So as you can guess by the title for today's blog, it was a pretty crazy day. How crazy do you ask? Try a mix of Disney fun mixed with some David Fincher! Okay, I know that's a strange clash right there but I do like to mix things up every once and a while. Keep things fresh. Anyway, so I got to create this really insane shot for my latest short film. It's so cool because the song at the beginning of the film is really eerie and really fits the tone of the movie. Glad that I was able to get that done. Also got a first term actor to play my big role. Still gotta do some casting for my last two roles, but I'll get that done soon. Nothing has been set in stone now, but I'll make sure to keep you posted on any future updates.

Morning Coffee @ Bill Zucker

It always makes me laugh and ponder when I see the line at Starbucks. People will stand in a line for a good half an hour just to pay $5-6 just for some coffee. You know, you passed a Timothy's just before you came in, right? You know, that little shop that has no lines and always has been? Of course you didn't. If there's no lines at Starbucks, I'll go in. However, if there's a line to Narnia, I'll go get my coffee someplace else.

P.S.
Bill Zuker is following me on Twitter. Just saying. I didn't know who he is until I googled him this morning. Pretty-pretty-pretty cool dude.

Why is it Always Me?

Why is it always me? Is it my spiked up hair? My tanned face? My kick ass Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog t-shirt? I don't know but it somehow has a strange way to attract the messed people on the subway to come near me. It seriously does.  Like this evening, I was on the subway back home and while I'm sitting, these two people come onto the subway and just start causing a scene. I think they were either high, or on meth, drunk, or maybe all of the above. Anyway, they just start shouting, cursing, and talking about some pretty sexuality explicit stuff. Yucky! Here's where it gets nastier. The woman who was saying all of this stuff was right behind me. I've never been this frightened since some homeless dude threatened to "put a fucking bullet in my fucking head". True story.  It's also funny how the other people around these messed people react to them. They either just stand there and do nothing, look at the floor, or just gawk. Me, I'm just thinking "how much longer till I get to my freaking stop before I die". So I ask myself again... why is it always me? I guess I'll never really get over it.

Re-writes

It doesn't matter whenever I do re-writes to a script or anything in general, I somehow have to urge to watch Forgetting Sarah Marshal. Jason Segel is a great writer and actor I hope to one day to meet him, write something with him. Hell, even tell me what I wrote was good or just bad. I respect him that much. Anyway, I'm getting a little offtrack. I need to get back to doing to rewriting one of my many scripts. I won't give it away, but it's a comedy mixed with some minor romance. That's all. Will I actually make it, probably not,  but I will try my very hardest.

A Shout Out to Boredom

A short film I made when I was bored one night. Enjoy!

Welcome Back

Just started my next/last semester at film school. Feels good to be back but boy does my schedule suck major assssssss! First class is from 4pm-10pm. Holy crap! Good thing I have Tuesdays off. Thank fucking god! Anyway, my first teacher is pretty cool. Why's that you may ask? Because he has freaking cigar all the time! Talk about badass to the max! One downside though. It's never lit :(

So far so cool (we'll see).
